Rush Limbaugh continues to lose sponsors over Sandra Fluke remarks
Rush Limbaugh, you fucked up. The conservative talk show host has had to reevaluate his purpose in life after targeting Georgetown University student Sandra Fluke for her statements on birth control policy. Limbaugh went so far as to call the student a “slut,” which multiple sponsors, including Quicken Loans, Citrix Systems and LegalZoom, did not agree with. What Limbaugh’s situation has taught us is this: It’s a fluke to call someone a slut, unless there is unanimity in that said person being one.
Chris Brown and Rihanna collaborate on song; Nicki Minaj’s “Stupid Hoe” becomes Rihanna’s theme song
It came as a surprise to everyone—mainly to those who sided with Rihanna in her time of need following the events of her altercation with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown—when the “Rude Boy” singer collaborated with Brown on her latest song, “Birthday Cake.” Most fans are completely divided: Paris Hilton supported the collaboration, stating on her Twitter, “Music heals! It really does!” while hip-hop mogul Jay-Z has been quoted as being “deeply disappointed” in Rihanna, and “disgusted” by what Chris did to her. Oh well, at least “Birthday Cake” will be a hit.
Jack White’s SNL performance reassures us that rock isn’t dead
We needed Jack White’s performance on SNL. The ex-White Stripes frontman (and just about every other garage-rock blues group in existence) dazzled viewers with two new songs from his forthcoming solo album, Blunderbuss. “Sixteen Saltines,” one of the songs performed, is a clear indication that White’s return will be well-received, featuring the guitarist’s powerful sound and distinguishable vocal delivery. Welcome back, Jack White; oh, and you, too, Lindsay Lohan.
